Understanding System Processes
System processes are one of the keys to understanding systems. Here are some of the more important processes.
Dr. Len Troncale at California State Polytechnic University first introduced the concept of system processes (called isomorphs) that were found in almost all mature systems in the early 70’s. He has named 80+ of them.
We believe that the following system processes (isomorphs) are very important for understanding or improving any system.
- Hierarchy/boundaries/meta-structures
- Feedback mechanisms
- Cycles
- Adaptation
- Self-organization
